![]() Songs I particularly liked: Angel, Teardrop, Inertia Creeps, Group Four But I think that's just nitpicking on an otherwise really good album. They're not bad but they require a special taste that I did not have. I would say my least favourite song was Man Next Door, even though I wouldn't call it bad per se. It ramps up at the end and that's when it gets really interesting. Lots of unique songs, like Teardrop, which is more sentimental with female vocals, Inertia Creeps is a more intense song, Exchange, a pretty slow instrumental track and Group Four, which is quite a long song, but it was pretty cool. So overall I really enjoyed that aspect as it kept things fresh. Also I think one reason for this is that it seems like lots of different artists worked together on this album so I imagine they all added their own flare to it. So even though the songs themselves are diverse and sound different from one another, they stay coherent in the context of the album and that's really cool. Now the following songs did have a little bit more hip hop and electronic stuff in them but even then it sounded like nothing I had ever heard before. It has a fantastic buildup that just explodes in the powerful sound of electric guitars and it's amazing. Still I think it remains my favourite song. Now as a metal head I ain't complaining but it was a bit of a surprise. The first song sounded kinda metal at some places. In the first sounded nothing like either hip hop nor electronic music. ![]() When I started listening to it I was thinking maybe I got the wrong album because it didn't sound like what I expected. This album has a bit of everything and it's really diverse. I listened to Mezzanine by Massive Attack, which was submitted by u/PranklinFierce, u/DarthSmiff, u/soiur, u/haberdasher42, u/Stoopid-Stoner, u/EtherealUnfall, u/nasdaqian, u/Refraktr, u/nudebather77 and u/AzothDrezan, so safe to say, it was a pretty unanimous decision. TL DR: I listen to a new genre every day, so recommend me one album and I'll listen to the most upvoted one and write my thoughts about it later. Thanks to anyone who recommends an album. If you want to see what the previous days were, check out my post history. I don't know anything about this genre, so I'm going in blind. ![]() LPs are preferred, but EPs and mixtapes are also acceptable, even compilations and live albums if they're not too long. If you submit more than one in your comment, it won't count (If you really want to submit more, do it in separate comments). It could be the best one in your opinion, your personal favourite, or the album that best represents this genre according to you, but please, only submit one album. ![]() So please recommend me an album in the comments. I'm planning to listen to one album per day and this time the genre is Trip Hop. The list I'm following is Wikipedia's list of the most popular music genres in a randomized order. I don't know anything about music theory so it's just gonna be the thoughts of a random guy). After this, I listen to the album that got the most upvotes after 24 hours and write my thoughts about it (I will write this as a comment under this one, so if you want to read it, make sure to check back in 2-3 days. I'm doing a little project where I go to different subreddits of music genres and I ask the members what the best album of that genre is. I hope this kind of post is allowed here. ![]()
